The Discovery™ is a Windows XP Professional-based, integrated console designed especially for Solid-State NMR. The console includes everything needed to interface to any magnet and solids probe - from computer to cables to duplexing network.

The Discovery system provides the power and flexibility needed to implement the most demanding experiments with accurate, precise control over every aspect of the experiment. Tecmag’s absolute requirement that there be no hidden delays in the system means that there are no surprises. This, coupled with the friendly WYSIWYG environment for pulse programming, provides an unparalleled experimental platform.
Latest Technology
Like the APOLLO series from Tecmag, the Discovery draws heavily on the latest digital surface mount technology. For example, the extensive use of super-fast SHARC DSP processors throughout the system makes it one of the most versatile consoles available today.
Modular Design
Individual, interchangeable pulse programmer modules, known as Event Modules™, are assigned to dedicated tasks such as phase control, amplitude control, and frequency control. This concept allows every spectrometer function to be controlled by its own powerful DSP. The RF sections of the console have been designed using the same modular concept. For example, the RF and receiver channels are independent, with dedicated, state-of-the-art, Tecmag-designed, frequency synthesizers.
Flexible Configurations
As a result of the modular design, Tecmag can offer the Discovery in a variety of configurations, so you get what you want, and only what you want. For example, the system is available with one to eight RF channels covering a frequency range of 2 kHz to 3.5 GHz. With regular software updates and future expansion capabilities owing to a modular design concept, the Discovery is the ideal console for a new spectrometer or a replacement console.
The Discovery includes:
- One to eight RF transmitter channels with fast ns phase, amplitude and frequency switching
- X-channels: broadband 1 kW linear RF power amplifiers
- 1H/19F channels: 500 W linear RF power amplifiers
- Digital receiver with 12.5 MHz bandwidth
- 24 channel shim power supply
- MAS air control
- Multi-channel RF duplexing network
- Rotor synchronization module
- NTNMR software site license
Other available options include a MAS spin-speed controller, variable temperature unit, gradient control system and digital lock system.
The Discovery can be used to convert your existing NMR spectrometer into a state-of-the-art system or can be purchased with a new shielded Jastec magnet and Eagle solid-state probe. 400, 500 and 600 MHz widebore and narrowbore shielded magnets are available from Tecmag.
