Clint Gouveia
Managing Director
Having worked in the superconducting magnet industry since 1987, Clint has gained significant global commercial and technical experience via numerous customer-facing engineering and management roles whilst with Oxford Instruments, coupled with OEM account, product and project management. Clint joined Varian Inc. in 2006, taking responsibility for their superconducting magnet test facility and product output, generating approximately $80M of revenue per annum. By 2012, Clint was overseeing the entire manufacturing and test functions at Agilent’s Oxford campus, with approximately 100 reports.
Formerly, Director of Operations, Clint took over the role of Managing Director of SciMag in February 2018. Clint is a Chartered Scientist with the UK Science Council, holds a BSc with first-class honours and is a fellow of The Institute of Science and Technology. Clint also works as a volunteer, assessing Chartered Scientist Applications on behalf of the Institute of Science and Technology.

With a medical physics background at the University of Cambridge optimising MRI magnets for use in combined MRI/PET imaging, Nick joined SM in 2005. He has developed the company’s technical capabilities over the last 16 years and overseen many of its most technically challenging projects. As Technical Director since 2015, he has continued to create unique solutions for a wide range of applications in the superconducting magnet sector.
Adam Shepheard
Engineering & Manufacturing Manager
A multi-disciplined Engineer within the field of superconductivity and cryogenics, Adam has extensive experience within all areas of magnet and cryostat design including manufacturing high end research systems from concept to installation. Competent in numerous fields, from engineering bespoke magnet and cryogenic designs for customers to rebuilding an MRI magnet from ground up in the amazon jungle.
Matt Coates
Design and IT Manager
With 35 years experience in design, development and project management of various challenging high technology scientific and medical magnet & cryogenic engineering systems, Matt has a proven record of delivering quality solutions together with managing design teams on small to large products including the high energy physics & UHV sectors. Good engineering background, extensive experience of manufacturing methods/materials/techniques and production systems. Also, 25 years in IT services/management, setting up new business design, QA, purchasing & stock control processes & documentation.

Business Administrator
With 40 years of operating in high technology sectors, Peter is an experienced and commercially aware relationship manager who can communicate at all levels and with different cultures effectively. During a career in applied superconductivity spanning 35 years, Peter has a proven track record in leadership, business development, customer relationship management, sales and marketing.
